History of the Event since 2003 – multi surf discipline event and more..

The South Coast Carnival was created in 2003 after the completion of the Kelso, Happy Wanderers event. This inaugural event “to test the waters” was a great success but unfortunately the location was not ideal for sponsors and the general public, making the event totally reliant on media coverage for exposure.

In 2004 we moved the event to Scottburgh Main Beach which proved more successful. In 2005 longboarding was introduced to the event and the kite surfers once again competed at Kelso. This proved to be logistically challenging in terms of budget and ensuring good media and television coverage at both venues. From 2006 all disciplines have taken place at Scottburgh Beach successfully and in 2007 SUP Stand up Paddleboard surfing was introduced.

The South Coast Surf Carnival is a one of a kind event in South Africa and any new sponsor wishing to attaché themselves to the event are welcome to contact Paul at 0835601185 or email on mw.nerve@mweb.co.za to discuss further

Over the years the event has entertained the public and beachgoers and has received massive media coverage via incidental and paid media. It has also been a great boost for the Scottburgh local economy as the event is held over a quiet period and the event has seen an increase in people coming down to the town over the weekend.
